So have I got this right? Jaguar get these auto boxes to “slur” the gearchange more than other car makers, in order for the gearchanges to be smoother? Owners are told not to change the trans fluid? After 3 days I was told that a new transmission was needed. I asked how a relatively new car, very well kept (every service was done on time and at the dealership) could have this major problem. I was told that this type of car frequently have this problems. Jaguar is replacing the transmission with a refurbished one for a cost of $2240. 00
I am at the moment fighting a battle with Jaguar cars to get my 18 month old S-type fixed. My main complaints are, Faulty transmission which I've let them have two attempts at fixing before realising that there is an inherent problem. Premature wear of the rear brakes which lead to the pads and disks needing replacing and a bill of £400 The transmission fluid is a lubricant that helps maintain the transmission of your car working properly: it makes it silent and decreases its wear. When should you change the transmission fluid of your S-Type? Generally, if your S-Type has an automatic transmission, the transmission fluid is changed every 25,000 to 30,000 miles.
Steve_Chatman (Steve Chatman) February 12, 2005, 12:26am 1 As best I can tell, all S-Types had the 5-speed Ford transmission until 2003, and the 5-speed Ford transmissions have been trouble prone. I have two questions the answers to which I have not been able to find. What is the incident rate? Is it 10% by 80,000 miles or 90%? Why does it occur?
