Not true, a 245 and indeed 255 are perfectly normal OEM fitment across many brands of car. 235 is beginning of stretch obviously minimal on an 8.5j wheel, the 85% rule confirms this. "Technically they should work", a s images show 235 is (if at all) barely stretched on 8.5J.

235/35/19 will be the closest in size w.r.t overall wheel circumference so that you won't have significant speed/speedometer issues. I am running that right now and it works just fine even with coilovers. The dealer/audi recommends 245/35/19 if you go up to 19" size however. I'm not quite sure why.
