They put in the German Castrol 5w30 which is closer to 0w40 here or something like that. Just got to BMW and buy some. Correct, it is NOT the same Castrol synthetic on the shelf at your local car parts store. BWM p/n 07-51-0-017-866, BMW list $4.00 per qt. BMW MTF LT2 has been great for me. Smooth shifts at all temps and no grinding. I also use the BMW diff fluid. No complaints at all with either one except price.. but you really don't need to change them very often. Always use a new crush washer on the diff plugs.
