What both games have in common was that they came after one of the most successful games in it's own franchise. Battlefield Hardline came right after Battlefield 4, as Cod Ghosts came right after Cod Black Ops 2. Next, the maps may have been bad, but only for the genre of Call of Duty. For example: Stormfront.
Ghosts took it down a notch. Infinity Ward made the decsion to focus on tight-nit squad gameplay instead of making things bigger and bolder. Now, the multiplayer is more focused on infantry combat while explosions and killstreaks take a back seat. It didn't help that it was plagued by poor map design (seriously, fuck Chasm) and a lackluster co-op.
Although the game does not feature a co-op campaign at launch, developers have hinted at potential updates and expansions that may introduce cooperative elements to the gameās narrative. It is worth noting that even without official co-op campaigns, many COD games offer cooperative gameplay modes outside of the main campaign.
